Message From the President

Adoptions are open again in Haiti and we have children that are not spoken for. We are accepting dossiers for adoptions under the 1974 regime that IBESR is using, please check the website www.glahaiti.org for current information.

When we look at our financial statements for 2009 and 2010 we are happy to report that our administrative costs are a very small portion of the total income. Most of these costs were covered by donors especially wanting to pay for admin costs. Running a business or a charity always presents the challenge to produce results with as low an overhead as possible so we are really pleased with this result. We have so many people who volunteer their expertise to do what is needed, we do not have an office nor do we have a large paid staff in Canada, volunteers carry the freight here! We say a big THANK YOU to all those who help us from day to day to keep our costs down.

The earthquake of January 12, 2010 changed Haiti forever and some of it is for the better. The new President is trying hard to make things better for his people. Relief agancies that set up tent cities have provided improved sanitation, better drinking water and church tents where meetings and Bible Studies go on daily. Some roads have been improved providing jobs for men who didn't have jobs before.

Today we are paying for the construction of some homes for people who lost their homes in the quake. We are also working at building the new orphanage at Ft Jacques which will mean we can close our rented Toddler House next year and move those children up to our permanent facility. This all provides joibs for people today, and will eventuall cut our cost of renting. It costs only $35.00 per square foot to complete this project, with every gift of $35.00 per month, we are one square foot closer to a new home for these children.

We ask you to prayerfully consider how you can help us help the needy children of Haiti. Monthly donation forms are available for download on our "donations" Page.

Thank you for visiting our sight and may God bless you as you partner with GLA Canada in saving the lives of children in Haiti.

Sincerely,
Glenn Thamer,
President, GLA Canada          (October 3, 2011)
